IMSA Diary: Day 3

One day closer to the race!  Today was the first 'official' swim training session by the beach, but there were very few athletes there.  It was a miserable morning, so maybe the suspect weather put a few people off!  I ended up getting in the water at the same time as British pros Rachel Joyce and Chrissie Wellington, but I didn't even bother trying to stay with them!  It was a very windy morning and the sea was much more choppy than it had been the past few days.  This made sighting the orange buoys challenging at times.  I did one leisurely 1.9km loop with a few short bursts at a faster pace.  After the swim I went to registration to get my race pack, numbers, timing chip etc.

Fortunately the wind and drizzle eased up a little in the afternoon and I stayed dry for a short bike and run session.  Looking at the forecast it seems that the weather today was a one-off and it's set to be nice until next week.  Tomorrow will be another lazy day, with the athlete race briefing and pasta party in the evening.
