IMSA Diary: Day 2

It's been another beautiful day here in Port Elizabeth.  It started very early this morning at sunrise with a short run, then it was a case of pretty much relaxing for the day.  I headed down to the race site to see if anything was going on, but it's still in the construction phase.  The swim buoys are out on the course, which looks like it should be quite easy to navigate.

My day was made today when I got a wave from the legend that is 6-time World Champion Natascha Badmann!  She was out riding and I could spot her from a far with her Red Bull helmet!  Also saw Jason Shortis (one of the great runners in Ironman) out running this evening.  Definitely a few more athletes out and about today.

I took in some of the bike route and soon realised that it could be a bumpy ride on Sunday.  Maybe I've been spoiled in Hawaii and past European Ironman races!  The course is undulating but predominantly flat, although depending on wind conditions it could be a slow day.  One thing's for sure, it's a beautiful route with some great views.

I'm feeling relaxed but at the same time I'm itching to get down to the race! Only a matter of days to go now.  Tomorrow will be much of the same - a bit of light training but mainly feet up.
